On October 31, 2013, thousands of demonstrators took the streets of Bangkok to protest a proposed bill designed to afford amnesty to political prisoners. Opponents fear the bill will allow for the return of exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and provide amnesty for people involved in violent incidences throughout Thailand's politically-derisive history.
