Violence Against Women in Mexico

More Info
In Mexico, violence against women has escalated considerably since 2010. In Juarez, over 4,000 women have vanished or have been found dead in or around the city since 1993. In Durango, femicide has increased 120%, and in Chiapas, cases of violence against women have risen 400%. The violence and a lack of legislation protecting women cause concern throughout the country, especially considering recent statistics reporting that 46% of Mexican women over the age of 15 have suffered some incident of violence from their partners.
