Protests in Qatif, Saudi Arabia
More Info
On 23 November, 19 year old Nasser al-Mheishi was killed under unclear circumstances involved the police, causing protests to break out in Saudi Arabia's eastern province of Qatif. Although the boy's death was unclear, the death of at least four others as a result of Saudi forces crackdown on the protesters was obvious, and have sparked hundreds of others to go out into the streets calling for the end of the regime. Police used tanks and live fire to disperse the crowds in an echo to similar protests that broke out in the region in March. Massive police presence in Riyadh has so far stifled any protests in the capital city.
