Violence Against Journalists in Mexico

More Info
Mexico ranks seventh on CPJ's index of the most dangerous countries to be a journalist due to organized crime and drug-related violence. Journalists and media organizations face threats, attacks, and intimidation that impede coverage of crime and corruption that is rampant in the country. Disappearances create a culture of fear among journalists, causing many to flee their beats or profession. Recently, Mexican Congress and the States passed a constitutional amendment federalizing crimes against freedom of expression.
