Rosia Montana wants mining

More Info
Roşia Montană was first attested in the documents in 131. Throughout the years, the specific activity of the area was gold mining, which started in the 2nd century A.D., during the Roman occupation. Since then, Rosia Montana has made the exploitation of precious metals its tradition and its pride. Unfortunately, mining disappeared a few years ago with the closure of the two state exploitations, RoşiaMin and Cupru Min, leaving over 1200 people from the area unemployed. As a result of the acute lack of jobs, people - especially the young ones – are leaving the area for developed urban areas in the country or abroad. Consequently, the area is going through a continuous depopulation and demographic ageing process. We, all the people from Rosia Montana, ask that you hear our voices, that you help us be heard. We are miners, our fathers, our grandfathers, our great-grandfathers were all miners and that is a job we do proudly, as a family tradition. But now we have nowhere to work, we have no way to support our families, we live in desolation and misery. We know what is best four ourselves, for our land and for our lives. We do not need festivals where drunk people come to party and do drugs for 3 days a year, we do not need people protesting against the chance to gain thousands of jobs, people who were never here, and people who don't know who we live. All we ask is to be heard and supported. We need jobs and we need investments.
