Protestas en Chile
More Info
In September 2012, high school and university students staged a protest in Chile demanding the country's President Sebastian Pinera improve the quality of public education quality in Santiago. So far, at least 20 have been arrested as riot police closed in on the youths. Police threw tear gas and used water cannons to disperse the protesting students. The students are urging the government to stop giving subsidies to private schools, claiming it hurts those who must then attend poor quality private schools.
