Protest in Spain 2014
More Info
Thousands of protesters across Spain are calling for an end to EU-imposed austerity measures that have deepened poverty among the nation’s worst-off. These "Dignity Marches" have attracted tens of thousands in support of more than 160 different causes, including employment, housing, health and education. Meanwhile, university students in Madrid are striking to protest government policies they feel encourage lower quality and elitist education, calling for higher investment in education, lower tuition rates, available scholarships and respect for university autonomy.
