Hunger Strikes in Guantanamo

More Info
As of April 2013, 166 people still remain imprisoned at the US-run Guantanamo Bay prison. Some 86 detainees were approved for release three years ago, yet they remained detained. In a desperate attempt to protest their indefinite detentions, about 100 detainees have gone on a hunger strike, declaring a preference for death over their never-ending torment and state of limbo. Although international policy states that doctors cannot force feed a striker, Guantanamo doctors do not adhere to this policy under the banner of safeguarding the detainees from harm. Currently, at least ten of the hunger strikers are being force-fed.
