Forced Labor in China

More Info
In China, hundreds of forced labor camps are part of the country’s penal system. Political prisoners and dangerous criminals work in camps designed to rehabilitate and re-educate offenders. Inmates are subject to squalid conditions and poor sanitation. Food is rationed according to work output to motivate prisoners. In early 2013, Chinese officials promised to reform its controversial forced labor system, but the camps still persist.
