Aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines
The Philippines are reeling from the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, a devastating tropical storm that struck on November 8, 2013. Haiyan is second most powerful typhoon in Philippine history. Over 6,000 people have died. The massive destruction of the storm has affected 13 million people and resulted in the displacement of around 3 million. Food, medicine, shelter, and fresh water are desperately needed by affected Filipinos, but distribution is complicated due to infrastructural damage and severe rain.
