Censorship and Access to Information in Iran
More Info
The Iranian government systematically restricts its citizens access to information by blocking websites, censoring television and radio programs, print and web publications, and by restricting free speech. The clampdown intensified after Iran’s disputed 2009 election, with many Internet users detained or even sentenced to prison terms on politically motivated charges. The Iranian government has announced it will launch a “halal” national Internet to adhere to Islamic values.
